How to use ovulation test strips to detect early pregnancy
Ovulation test strips cannot be used for early pregnancy detection. Ovulation test strips are designed to measure the peak level of luteinizing hormone (LH) in urine to determine whether ovulation is occurring. The specific steps are as follows:
1. First, check whether the packaging of the ovulation test strip is damaged, as this may affect the test results.
2. Determine your menstrual cycle and generally start testing on the 10th day after the onset of menstruation.
3. Collect urine in a clean, disposable cup, preferably between 8:00 and 10:00 AM.
4. Dip the test end of the strip into the urine for 3 seconds, then lay it flat. Observe the result within 10 to 30 minutes; results read after 30 minutes are invalid.
5. If two red lines of equal color intensity appear, the result is positive, indicating that ovulation will likely occur within the next 48 hours. If only one line appears, the result is negative, meaning that ovulation is still some time away, and retesting can be done at a later date.
