Is cervical erosion grade IV severe, and how should it be treated?
Cervical erosion usually refers to cervical ectopic columnar epithelium. Is degree four cervical ectopic columnar epithelium severe? It is recommended that patients promptly seek physical therapy at a hospital to relieve discomfort and promote recovery.
1. Severity
Cervical ectopic columnar epithelium occurs due to the effects of estrogen, causing the columnar epithelium inside the cervical canal to shift outward to the external cervical os. This is considered a normal physiological phenomenon, although some patients may experience contact bleeding. Generally, although cervical ectopic columnar epithelium is a normal physiological change, degree four represents a relatively serious condition, indicating more severe cervical inflammation in the patient.
2. Treatment
Patients with degree four cervical ectopic columnar epithelium are not advised to treat with medications, as drug treatments are often ineffective. Instead, patients should promptly visit a hospital for physical therapies such as laser therapy, cryotherapy, electrocautery, or electrosurgery.
Patients should maintain good personal hygiene, washing the genital area daily with warm water, and wearing cotton underwear with good breathability. A light diet is recommended, avoiding overeating and binge eating.
