Introduction
Itchy eyes may be caused by foreign objects such as dust or hair entering the eye and irritating the ocular surface. It could also result from contact with allergens or the use of substandard skincare products, leading to allergic reactions in the skin around the eyes. Additionally, prolonged wear of contaminated contact lenses, or corneal injuries and infections causing keratitis with increased secretions that irritate the surrounding eye area, may also be responsible.

Itching around the eyes can be attributed to two main causes: non-disease factors and disease-related factors. Common disease-related causes include allergies, keratitis, and others.

I. Non-disease Factors

This may occur when foreign substances such as dust or hair enter the eye, irritating the surface of the eyeball.

II. Disease-related Factors

1. Allergies

Exposure to allergens such as pollen or house dust mites, or using substandard skincare products, may trigger allergic reactions in the skin around the eyes.

2. Keratitis

Keratitis may result from prolonged use of contaminated contact lenses, corneal injuries, or infections caused by pathogenic microorganisms such as tuberculosis bacteria, bacteria, or viruses. Increased eye discharge associated with keratitis can irritate the surrounding area.

In addition, conditions such as dry eye syndrome may also cause itching. Timely differential diagnosis is recommended.
