Introduction
Chalazion refers to a cyst of the meibomian gland. If the chalazion is small, an ophthalmic ointment such as ofloxacin may be used under medical guidance to prevent infection and inhibit bacterial growth. Warm compresses can also help promote resolution of the cyst. If the cyst is large and does not respond well to these conservative measures, surgical intervention at a hospital is necessary to completely remove both the contents and the cyst wall, thereby relieving symptoms.

Chalazion clinically refers to meibomian gland cyst. Treatment for meibomian gland cyst can be selected according to the size of the cyst.

1. Small: If the meibomian gland cyst is small, anti-infective medications such as ofloxacin eye ointment, erythromycin eye ointment, or fusidic acid cream may be used under a doctor's guidance to inhibit bacterial growth. Warm compresses can also help promote resolution of the cyst.

2. Large: If the cyst is large and does not improve with the above methods, surgical intervention at a hospital is required to completely remove both the contents and the cyst wall. This relieves symptoms, achieves cure, and does not cause adverse effects on the body.
