What causes sudden diarrhea in women?
Diarrhea generally refers to loose or watery stools. Sudden diarrhea in women may result from physiological factors, or pathological conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or acute gastroenteritis.
I. Physiological Causes
This may be due to sensitive personality traits, environmental changes, or other factors that cause sudden emotional fluctuations, or consumption of excessively raw, cold, or spicy foods, leading to abnormal intestinal digestive function and resulting in diarrhea.
II. Pathological Causes
1. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Infection with intestinal viruses or persistent psychological stress and anxiety may disrupt normal gastrointestinal motility, leading to irritable bowel syndrome and causing diarrhea.
2. Acute Gastroenteritis
Consuming spoiled food or eating in unsanitary conditions may lead to infection by intestinal pathogens such as Salmonella or Vibrio parahaemolyticus, causing acute inflammatory changes in the intestinal mucosa and resulting in acute gastroenteritis.
Additionally, individuals with weakened resistance or low immunity may develop gastrointestinal viral infections (such as stomach flu), which can also cause diarrhea. Timely symptomatic treatment can help alleviate symptoms.
