Mild abdominal distension with vague pain
Mild abdominal distension accompanied by dull pain is usually caused by conditions such as intestinal dysfunction, chronic enteritis, or colon cancer. It is recommended to identify the underlying cause and receive targeted treatment accordingly.
1. Intestinal Dysfunction
Intestinal dysfunction, also known as gastrointestinal neurosis, is primarily caused by factors related to diet, mental state, and intestinal motility. It results from disturbances in gastrointestinal movement and secretory function without any organic pathological changes, and does not lead to permanent structural damage of the gastrointestinal tract. Under medical guidance, medications such as domperidone tablets, cisapride tablets, and trimebutine maleate tablets may be taken orally to promote gastrointestinal motility.
2. Chronic Enteritis
Long-term irregular eating habits or excessive alcohol consumption can lead to congestion and swelling of the intestinal mucosa, resulting in lower abdominal bloating and pain, often accompanied by loose stools. For chronic enteritis, medications such as gentamicin sulfate tablets, norfloxacin tablets, and levofloxacin tablets may be prescribed under a doctor’s supervision.
3. Colon Cancer
Colon cancer refers to malignant epithelial tumors of the colon and is a type of gastrointestinal malignancy. The colon consists of several parts including the ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, and sigmoid colon. Treatment options for colon cancer include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and targeted therapy.
In addition, in women, uterine cancer may also cause lower abdominal pain and bloating. It is advisable to keep the abdomen warm, perform clockwise massage around the navel to enhance intestinal motility and facilitate gas release. Avoid foods that easily produce gas, such as milk and soy milk, and reduce water intake during meals.
