Introduction
For scalds caused by hot water that result in peeling skin, appropriate treatment should be based on the severity of the injury. After a hot water burn with skin peeling, it is important to maintain adequate sleep and rest, eat a light diet, and avoid spicy and irritating foods such as chili peppers and Sichuan pepper to prevent discomfort at the wound site. If a scab forms, allow it to fall off naturally. Do not pick it off manually, as this may cause the wound to reopen.

Treatment for skin peeling due to scalding with hot water should be based on the severity of the injury.

   1. Mild cases

If the burn is not extensive or severe, first rinse the wound with cold water to reduce pain and swelling. Keep the affected area clean and avoid peeling off the loose skin with hands. Under medical guidance, disinfect the wound with iodophor and apply burn ointments such as erythromycin ointment or mupirocin ointment, then cover it with sterile gauze. Oral antibiotics such as amoxicillin capsules or levofloxacin tablets may also be taken under a doctor’s supervision.

   2. Severe cases

If the scald is severe and involves extensive skin damage, surgical intervention may be required under medical advice. Severe burns need comprehensive treatment under medical supervision, including fluid replacement, blood transfusion, anti-shock measures, and infection prevention. It's also essential to maintain normal respiratory and circulatory functions.

In addition, after a hot water scald causing skin peeling, ensure adequate rest and sleep. Maintain a light diet and avoid spicy and irritating foods such as chili peppers and Sichuan pepper to prevent discomfort at the wound site. Consume more fresh fruits and vegetables—such as apples, peaches, leafy greens—as well as eggs, chicken, and lean pork, which can promote wound healing. If a scab forms, allow it to fall off naturally. Do not pick it off manually, as this may cause the wound to reopen.
