Introduction
In general, it is acceptable to eat before donating blood. You should maintain a normal diet to avoid hypoglycemia during donation, but avoid eating too much, as excessive food can cause blood to gather in the digestive system, potentially leading to cerebral hypoxia. In addition, while eating before donation is allowed, you should consume light and easily digestible foods beforehand. However, avoid foods high in fat and protein, as they may affect the quality of the donated blood.

All Chinese citizens have the right to donate blood. As long as an individual is in good health and aged between 18 and 55, they are eligible to donate. Based on physical examination results, a person can donate 200–400 mL of blood per session, with at least six months between donations. Regular blood donation typically has no adverse effects on health. On the contrary, moderate donation can stimulate the bone marrow, benefit hematopoietic function, help prevent hyperlipidemia, and may even contribute to longevity. Donors should not be fasting when donating; maintaining normal dietary intake helps prevent low blood sugar levels and symptoms such as dizziness or blurred vision during donation.

In addition, while it is fine to eat before donating blood, donors should consume light and easily digestible foods such as noodles or porridge. Avoid foods high in fat and protein, as well as fried foods, which could lead to lipid metabolism disorders and affect the quality of donated blood.
