Introduction
Hand, foot, and mouth disease and eczema are generally not the same skin condition. They are two distinct diseases. Hand, foot, and mouth disease is an acute skin illness caused by a viral infection, primarily characterized by red rashes on the palms, soles, and oral mucosa, sometimes accompanied by symptoms such as blisters and itching. In addition, it is important to maintain a light diet in daily life and consume more fresh vegetables and fruits.

Hand fungus (tinea manuum) and eczema are generally not the same skin condition.

Hand fungus and eczema are two distinct diseases. Hand fungus is an acute skin infection caused by a viral infection, primarily characterized by red patches on the palms, soles, and oral mucosa, sometimes accompanied by blisters and itching. In contrast, eczema is a chronic skin condition mainly presenting with dryness, itching, redness, swelling, and peeling of the skin, commonly occurring on the hands, feet, and flexural areas such as behind the knees.

Although symptoms of hand fungus and eczema may appear somewhat similar, their underlying causes, pathogenic mechanisms, and treatment approaches differ significantly. Treatment for hand fungus typically involves oral and topical antifungal medications under medical supervision, such as itraconazole dispersible tablets, terbinafine hydrochloride tablets, and fluconazole tablets, combined with topical applications like clotrimazole cream, miconazole nitrate cream, or naftifine hydrochloride cream to inhibit microbial growth and relieve itching. In contrast, eczema management focuses on identifying and avoiding triggers, maintaining skin hydration, and using antihistamines—such as loratadine tablets or cetirizine tablets—as directed by a physician to alleviate itching and other symptoms.

Additionally, patients should maintain a light diet in daily life, consume more fresh vegetables and fruits, and avoid oily, spicy, and irritating foods.
