Introduction
The severity of subclavian artery plaque depends on the size of the plaque. If the plaque is small, it generally does not affect arterial blood flow or cause symptoms, and is usually not serious. However, larger plaques that cause vascular stenosis are more serious and may lead to symptoms such as limb weakness and ischemic pain on one side of the body. Additionally, if the plaque dislodges, it may result in life-threatening conditions such as cerebral infarction, pulmonary embolism, or myocardial infarction.

Whether a subclavian artery plaque is serious depends on the size of the plaque.

1. Not serious

If the subclavian artery plaque is relatively small, it generally does not affect arterial blood flow and usually causes no obvious clinical symptoms, so it is typically not considered serious. However, patients should maintain a balanced diet, increase physical activity, and adopt healthier lifestyle habits.

2. Serious

If the plaque is large and causes significant narrowing of the blood vessel, the condition is usually more serious. It may lead to symptoms such as limb weakness or ischemic pain on one side of the body. Additionally, if the plaque detaches, it may travel with the bloodstream and cause complications such as cerebral infarction, pulmonary embolism, or myocardial infarction, which could potentially threaten the patient's life in severe cases.

It is recommended that patients choose appropriate methods based on their individual conditions to control plaque progression and prevent further enlargement.
