Introduction
Nabothian cysts refer to cervical cysts that primarily occur on the surface of the cervix. The cervical surface in women is rich in glands, which normally secrete mucus that helps lubricate the vagina. When inflammation occurs in the cervix, it often leads to edema, blocking the glandular openings and preventing the normal discharge of mucus. Over time, this results in the formation of small cysts on the cervical surface.

The female cervix has abundant surface glands. Under normal conditions, glandular secretions provide lubrication for the vagina. However, when inflammation occurs in the cervix, it may easily cause edema, blocking the glandular openings and preventing normal drainage of mucus. Over time, this leads to the formation of small cysts on the cervical surface. These cysts are typically small and scattered, protruding from the cervical surface, causing cervical tissue congestion and swelling, which may result in abnormal vaginal discharge, vulvar itching, lower back pain, and other symptoms.
After the onset of cervical disease, timely medical evaluation including liquid-based cervical cytology testing should be performed, and appropriate treatment measures should be selected based on test results.
