Vaginal bleeding after sex
Sexual intercourse refers to coitus. Vaginal bleeding after intercourse can be caused by either physiological or pathological factors, with pathological causes often related to conditions such as cervicitis and cervical polyps. The underlying cause should be identified and treated accordingly. Specific analyses are as follows:
I. Physiological Causes
After a woman's first sexual intercourse, minor vaginal bleeding may occur due to rupture of the hymen, which is a normal physiological phenomenon.
II. Pathological Causes
1. Cervicitis
Cervicitis causes local congestion and erosion-like changes in the cervix, leading to prominent exposure of blood vessels. During intercourse, repeated contact between the penis and the cervix may result in localized bleeding. Treatment may include medications such as Baofukang suppositories, Xiaomi suppositories, or Kangfu gel, used according to medical advice.
2. Cervical Polyps
Chronic inflammation over a long period may lead to the development of cervical polyps, which are fragile and prone to local injury during intercourse, resulting in bleeding. Surgical removal of the polyp is generally recommended.
In addition, contact bleeding could also be caused by cervical cancer. In such cases, intercourse should be temporarily avoided, and a gynecological examination including cervical CTC (cervical cytology testing) should be performed promptly at the hospital to determine the cause and initiate appropriate treatment.
