Causes of back muscle cramp pain
Back muscle cramp and pain are usually caused by physiological factors, as well as pathological factors such as muscle strain and calcium deficiency. The specific analysis is as follows:
I. Physiological Factors
Prolonged standing or sitting can cause stiffness in the back muscles of patients, leading to lactic acid buildup, which may result in symptoms of back muscle cramps and pain. These symptoms can be relieved through adequate rest and massage.
II. Pathological Factors
1. Muscle Strain
This refers to injury of the back muscles due to prolonged heavy physical labor or intense exercise. It is usually accompanied by symptoms such as pain and swelling. Patients should avoid further physical activity and may use ice packs to alleviate symptoms.
2. Calcium Deficiency
If an individual frequently has a selective diet, resulting in insufficient intake of calcium, or excessive consumption of calcium, it may lead to muscle spasms, thereby causing cramping and pain in the back. In severe cases, symptoms such as bone pain and twitching in the hands and feet may also occur. Patients can improve their dietary habits and, under a doctor's guidance, take calcium supplements to replenish the body’s required calcium levels.
In addition to the above factors, back cramps and pain could also be caused by fasciitis or lumbar disc herniation. If the cause is unclear, patients should promptly seek medical evaluation and further diagnosis and treatment at a hospital.
