Introduction
Right upper back pain may be a physiological phenomenon or caused by medical conditions such as myofascial inflammation or cervical spondylosis. If one normally lacks physical activity and suddenly engages in strenuous use of the right side of the back or performs heavy physical labor, the back muscles may become tense and fatigued, leading to lactic acid buildup. This can irritate surrounding tissues and result in pain.

Pain on the right side of the back may be caused by physiological factors, or it could result from pathological conditions such as myofasciitis or cervical spondylosis. The specific causes are analyzed as follows:

I. Physiological Causes

If one normally lacks physical activity and suddenly engages in intense use of the right side of the back or performs heavy physical labor, the back muscles may become tense and fatigued, leading to lactic acid buildup. This can irritate surrounding tissues and cause pain. Such cases are typically normal physiological phenomena and can usually be relieved through adequate rest, heat application, and massage.

II. Pathological Causes

1. Myofasciitis

When the muscles or fascia on the right side of the back are exposed to external stimuli, sterile inflammatory changes may occur, resulting in myofasciitis. Under stimulation by inflammatory factors, pain develops between tissues and may sometimes be accompanied by muscle spasms. Patients may take medications such as ibuprofen sustained-release capsules or celecoxib capsules under medical guidance.

2. Cervical Spondylosis

Due to factors such as aging or trauma, degenerative changes may occur in the cervical intervertebral discs, which can compress surrounding tissues and structures, triggering cervical spondylosis and causing pain, numbness, or tingling in the neck and back. Treatments may include traction or physical therapy to relieve compression, or taking analgesic and neurotrophic medications such as acetaminophen tablets or mecobalamin tablets.

In addition to the common causes mentioned above, tuberculosis cannot be ruled out. Severe or persistent pain should prompt timely medical evaluation and treatment.
