Introduction
Under normal circumstances, elevated aspartate aminotransferase (AST), also known as aspartate transaminase, is one of the most commonly used indicators in liver function tests. Individuals with high AST levels may consume low-fat, light, and easily digestible foods such as lean meat, fish, broccoli, tofu, and eggplant. In addition to these foods, cabbage, carrots, and apples are also suitable choices.

Under normal circumstances, elevated aspartate aminotransferase (AST), also known as serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT), is one of the most commonly used indicators in liver function tests. Individuals with high AST levels may consume low-fat, light, and easily digestible foods such as lean meat, fish, broccoli, tofu, and eggplant. Specific details are as follows:

1. Lean meat

Lean meat is rich in protein and various minerals, with nutritional value similar to fatty meat but easier to digest. Consuming an appropriate amount helps supplement essential nutrients for the body and is less likely to cause further elevation of AST levels.

2. Fish

Fish contains abundant high-quality protein that is easily digested and absorbed, which to some extent helps enhance immunity.

3. Broccoli

Broccoli is rich in vitamins, dietary fiber, and other nutrients, which help promote metabolism and may assist in lowering AST levels.

4. Tofu

Tofu, a soy product, is rich in protein, plant compounds, and certain vitamins. In terms of liver health, tofu is considered a light food that generally does not impose excessive burden on the liver.

5. Eggplant

Eggplant is a vegetable rich in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. While eggplant does not directly affect AST levels, it is a healthy ingredient that can help reduce oxidative stress in the body, thereby lowering the risk of liver diseases.

In addition to the above foods, patients may also eat cabbage, carrots, apples, etc. However, diet alone cannot treat diseases. If elevated AST levels are caused by pathological conditions, individuals should seek timely medical attention.
