Passion fruit is a common fruit containing abundant protein, fat, vitamins, and various trace elements. If a diabetic patient has well-controlled blood glucose—below 8 mmol/L fasting and below 10 mmol/L two hours after meals—they may consume passion fruit juice in moderation. This typically will not cause a significant increase in blood sugar or worsen symptoms of diabetes.
2. Should not drink
If a diabetic patient's blood glucose is poorly controlled and already elevated, drinking passion fruit juice is not recommended. This is mainly because passion fruit juice has a relatively high sugar content, with the sugar level in passion fruit ranging approximately from 7% to 8%. Excessive consumption can lead to sugar accumulation in the body, resulting in elevated blood glucose levels and hindering disease management.
