Introduction
High uric acid levels at 37 weeks of pregnancy may be due to physiological factors, such as increased renal load in pregnant women and slowed uric acid metabolism, leading to elevated blood uric acid concentration, which generally does not require medication. Pathological causes include gout, hypertension, etc., which require targeted treatment. In addition, high uric acid at 37 weeks of pregnancy could also result from conditions such as liver cirrhosis; therefore, timely medical evaluation is necessary.

Elevated uric acid levels at 37 weeks of pregnancy may result from physiological factors, or from pathological conditions such as gout or hypertension. Targeted treatments are available. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. Physiological Factors

During pregnancy, women must supply the fetus with adequate nutrients and oxygen, requiring the kidneys to filter a larger volume of blood to ensure sufficient delivery. This increases the workload on the kidneys, reducing the efficiency of uric acid excretion and leading to elevated uric acid levels. In most cases, medication is not required; instead, the condition can be improved through moderate exercise and dietary control.

2. Pathological Factors

1) Gout

Gout occurs due to abnormal uric acid metabolism, which leads to excessive production of uric acid. Uric acid is a byproduct of purine metabolism—normally, purines in the body are metabolized into uric acid and then excreted via the kidneys. However, when purine production is excessive or kidney excretion capacity is reduced, uric acid accumulates, resulting in hyperuricemia. After medical diagnosis, medications such as prednisone tablets or ibuprofen sustained-release capsules may be prescribed.

2) Hypertension

Long-term high-sodium diet and chronic fatigue from sleep deprivation may lead to hypertension. Hypertension can cause ischemia and hypoxia in the glomeruli, impairing their ability to filter uric acid, thus contributing to elevated uric acid levels. It is recommended to follow a physician's instructions for medications such as alprenolol hydrochloride tablets or benazepril tablets.

In addition to the above, elevated uric acid at 37 weeks of pregnancy may also be caused by conditions such as liver cirrhosis, leukemia, lymphoma, or multiple myeloma. Patients experiencing these symptoms should seek prompt medical attention for proper diagnosis and treatment.
