Introduction
In general, the sensation of chest tightness, shortness of breath, and a foreign body feeling in the throat may be caused by conditions such as pneumonia, peritonsillar abscess, or myocarditis. Chronic pharyngitis, myocardial infarction, and coronary heart disease can also cause symptoms of chest tightness, shortness of breath, and a foreign body sensation in the throat. It is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation and treatment based on the underlying cause to avoid delaying diagnosis and management.

In general, the sensation of chest tightness with shortness of breath and a foreign body feeling in the throat usually refers to symptoms of chest tightness, shortness of breath, and a sensation of something stuck in the throat. These may be caused by conditions such as pneumonia, peritonsillar abscess, myocarditis, and others. Specific analyses are as follows:

1. Pneumonia

Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs caused by bacteria. Common symptoms include fever, cough, and sputum production. If respiratory secretions increase, patients may experience difficulty breathing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and a sensation of a foreign body in the throat. Patients with pneumonia should go to the hospital for symptomatic treatment based on the specific cause. Pneumonia can generally be divided into infectious and non-infectious types. The main treatment approach for infectious pneumonia is anti-infective therapy, and doctors typically prescribe medications such as amoxicillin capsules, ampicillin capsules, cephalexin capsules, and norfloxacin capsules. Non-infectious pneumonia is primarily treated with anti-mycoplasma therapy, using drugs such as roxithromycin granules or azithromycin capsules.

2. Peritonsillar Abscess

This condition is usually a purulent inflammation occurring within the glands surrounding the palatine tonsils. When tonsillar swelling becomes severe, it may cause a sensation of blockage and pain in the throat. Some patients may develop breathing difficulties leading to chest tightness and other symptoms. In extremely severe cases, patients may have difficulty opening their mouths. Systemic symptoms include fatigue, headache, limb soreness, and constipation. Symptoms can be alleviated under medical guidance with medications such as amoxicillin capsules or penicillin V potassium tablets. If the peritonsillar abscess significantly enlarges and shows severe inflammation affecting normal swallowing function, surgical intervention may be required to remove the abscess. Recovery typically occurs within about one week after surgery. It is advisable to maintain a light diet in daily life and avoid spicy or irritating foods to reduce stimulation to the tonsils.

3. Myocarditis

Myocarditis generally refers to an inflammatory disease of the heart muscle. Besides experiencing chest tightness and shortness of breath, patients may also feel a foreign body sensation in the throat. Severe cases may present with serious arrhythmias, heart failure, cardiogenic shock, or even death. Although myocarditis is associated with physical exhaustion, it is primarily caused by viral infections of the heart muscle. Approximately 90% of viral myocarditis cases can be cured, but patients must remain bedridden during the acute phase and avoid exertion. Additionally, patients should take medications as prescribed by their doctor to support heart muscle health, such as trimetazidine hydrochloride tablets, compound danshen tablets, and musk cardiac pills.

Besides the above, chronic pharyngitis, myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, and other conditions may also cause symptoms of chest tightness, shortness of breath, and a sensation of a foreign body in the throat. It is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation and appropriate treatment based on the underlying cause to prevent delays in managing the condition.
