How is a cervical biopsy performed?
Generally, a cervical biopsy involves taking a small sample of cervical tissue for pathological examination to diagnose whether there are cervical lesions. The specific steps are as follows:
1. The patient empties the bladder and assumes the lithotomy position.
2. The external genitalia and vaginal area are disinfected, and a treatment drape is placed under the buttocks.
3. A vaginal speculum is used to fully expose the cervix. The external genitalia, vagina, and cervix are disinfected again. The mucus and secretions on the cervical surface are dried with a cotton ball.
4. Using a biopsy forceps, tissue is collected from the most visibly abnormal area of the cervix.
5. All removed tissue samples are sent for pathological examination.
6. The biopsy site is compressed with gauze that has a tail for hemostasis.
7. The patient's genital area is dried, and she is assisted in dressing; the procedure is then complete.
8. The patient may remove the gauze herself after 24 hours.
Note: Cervical biopsy is not recommended during acute genital tract infections or pregnancy. If examination is necessary, it is advised to visit a正规 hospital and have the procedure performed by a qualified physician.
