Itching and moisture between the toes in hot weather may be caused by physiological factors, or by pathological conditions such as eczema or athlete's foot (tinea pedis). Treatment can include general management and medication. Eczema may be triggered by various internal or external factors, leading to symptoms such as blister formation and itching. It can be treated with topical applications of medications like desonide cream or tacrolimus ointment.
Toes refer to the digits of the foot. Itching and moisture between the toes in hot weather may be caused by physiological factors, or pathological conditions such as eczema or athlete's foot (tinea pedis). Treatment can be achieved through general management and medication. Specific details are as follows:
  I. Physiological Factors
When socks are made of synthetic fibers or when shoes are worn without socks, sweat from the feet cannot be effectively absorbed and instead accumulates inside the shoe, leading to dampness between the toes accompanied by itching. It is recommended to wear cotton socks that absorb sweat and help prevent foot odor. Wash the toes with soap regularly to remove dead skin and reduce bacterial buildup.
  II. Pathological Factors
  1. Eczema
This is typically an inflammatory skin condition that may be triggered by various internal or external factors, presenting symptoms such as blister formation and intense itching. Under medical guidance, topical treatments like desonide cream or tacrolimus ointment can be applied.
  2. Athlete’s Foot (Tinea Pedis)
This is a fungal infection of the feet caused by dermatophytes. The infection damages the stratum corneum of the skin between the toes, leading to blisters, peeling skin, and often severe itching. Under medical supervision, antifungal medications such as compound clotrimazole cream or bifonazole solution can be applied topically.
In addition to the above, other possible causes include dyshidrotic eczema, palmoplantar pustulosis, and tinea corporis. Adequate rest is advised, and strenuous physical activity should be avoided.
