In general, soreness in the thighs on the second day after fishing may be caused by cold exposure, prolonged sitting, muscle strain, lower limb varicose veins, lumbar disc herniation, and other factors. Different causes require different management approaches. It is recommended to stand up and walk around periodically while fishing, perform limb stretching exercises, and pay close attention to staying warm to avoid getting chilled.

Generally, soreness in the thighs on the second day after fishing may be caused by cold exposure, prolonged sitting, muscle strain, lower extremity varicose veins, or lumbar disc herniation. Different causes require different management approaches. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. Cold exposure: When the ambient temperature is too low, local blood vessels and muscles may constrict, impairing circulation. If the thighs are exposed to sudden cold, it may lead to poor local blood flow and muscle tension, resulting in thigh soreness. It is recommended to apply warm compresses and massage to improve circulation and relax the muscles, thereby alleviating soreness.

2. Prolonged sitting: Sitting for extended periods can impair lower limb circulation, leading to lactic acid buildup and subsequent thigh soreness. Patients can relieve symptoms through massage and warm compresses to enhance blood flow.

3. Muscle strain: Incorrect posture during fishing may cause muscle strain. Initially, cold packs are recommended to reduce swelling and pain. After 48 hours, warm compresses can help improve local circulation and relieve discomfort.

4. Lower extremity varicose veins: Remaining in one seated position for a long time while fishing may worsen varicose veins, causing twisted veins and impaired removal of metabolic waste products. This may lead to excessive lactic acid accumulation, resulting in leg soreness and heaviness. Patients are advised to rest appropriately and massage the affected muscles to promote circulation and relieve symptoms.

5. Lumbar disc herniation: In severe cases, a protruding intervertebral disc may compress nerve roots that innervate the lower limbs, causing abnormal sensations. In serious cases, this may manifest as thigh soreness. It is recommended to take medications such as diclofenac sodium sustained-release capsules or ibuprofen tablets as directed by a physician to alleviate symptoms.

It is advisable to stand up and walk around periodically while fishing, stretch the limbs regularly, and pay attention to staying warm to avoid cold exposure.
