What to do for formaldehyde poisoning
Generally, formaldehyde poisoning primarily presents with respiratory symptoms, but it may also cause damage to other organs. When someone is suffering from formaldehyde poisoning, emergency measures should be taken immediately. The specific procedures are as follows:
1. Immediately remove the person with formaldehyde poisoning from the contaminated environment and allow them to breathe fresh air.
2. Remove any clothing contaminated by formaldehyde and thoroughly rinse the affected skin areas with large amounts of clean water.
3. If symptoms such as wheezing or difficulty breathing occur, administer nebulized inhalation treatment using 2% sodium bicarbonate immediately.
4. Monitor the patient's condition closely. In severe cases involving hypoxia or respiratory failure, promptly perform endotracheal intubation and initiate mechanical ventilation.
If medication is required, it should only be administered under a doctor's guidance. If symptoms cannot be managed using the above methods, seek immediate medical attention for appropriate symptomatic treatment.
