Emergency first aid measures for cardiac arrest
Generally, cardiac arrest refers to a sudden loss of heart function, resulting in the absence of pulse in major arteries and potentially causing ischemia and hypoxia in internal organs—an urgent medical emergency. When cardiac arrest occurs, immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with chest compressions should be performed. The specific steps are as follows:
1. After confirming the scene is safe, call out and gently tap the patient's shoulder to check for consciousness. Lay the patient flat on the ground, loosen their clothing, and assess whether they have breathing or a pulse.
2. If the patient is not breathing and there is no carotid pulse, immediately instruct someone nearby to call the emergency number 120.
3. Locate the center of the line connecting the two nipples. Place your left hand over your right, interlock your fingers, keep your arms straight, and use your body weight to press down vertically on the center point with the heel of your right hand. Compress at least 5 cm deep at a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute, delivering 30 compressions.
During treatment, continuously monitor the patient’s condition. If there is no improvement using the above method, inform medical professionals promptly.
