What to do about a fetus in a transverse position
Under normal circumstances, fetal oblique position may be caused by factors such as unhealthy lifestyle habits, abnormal uterine shape, excessive tension in the abdominal muscles or uterine ligaments, polyhydramnios or oligohydramnios, multiple pregnancies, and can be improved through general treatment, medication, or surgical interventions.
1. Unhealthy lifestyle habits: If a pregnant woman has unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as maintaining poor posture for extended periods or lacking physical activity, this may affect the fetal position and lead to an oblique position. Pregnant women should maintain healthy lifestyle habits, including balanced nutrition, moderate exercise, and proper posture, to reduce adverse effects on the fetus.
2. Abnormal uterine shape: An abnormally shaped uterus may prevent the fetus from assuming a normal position inside the uterus, resulting in an oblique position. Pregnant women can use posture-adjustment methods such as the knee-chest position or supine position with elevated buttocks, utilizing fetal gravity to help naturally reposition the fetus.
3. Excessive tension in abdominal muscles or uterine ligaments: Overly tight abdominal muscles or uterine ligaments may restrict the fetus's freedom of movement within the uterus, causing an oblique position. Pregnant women can undergo electroacupuncture at specific acupoints under a physician's guidance to regulate maternal blood and qi balance and correct the fetal position.
4. Polyhydramnios or oligohydramnios: Excessive or insufficient amniotic fluid may cause fetal instability in the uterus, increasing the risk of an oblique position. Pregnant women can follow medical advice to use medications such as furosemide tablets or low molecular weight heparin calcium injection to help restore amniotic fluid levels to normal.
5. Multiple pregnancies: In multiple pregnancies, the positional relationship between fetuses may be more complex, increasing the likelihood of an oblique position. If the oblique position severely affects the progress of labor or fetal health, pregnant women may need to consider surgical treatment, such as cesarean section.
During pregnancy, women should maintain a healthy lifestyle and attend regular prenatal checkups at the hospital. If fetal oblique position is severe, timely medical treatment should be sought to ensure the safety of the pregnancy.
