Introduction
Gonococcus has a very strong ability to survive and reproduce. Once entering the human body, gonococcus rapidly multiplies on the mucous membrane of the urethra and releases large amounts of toxins, leading to damage of the urethral mucosa and causing an inflammatory response. Relying solely on the body's own immune mechanisms is rarely sufficient for complete clearance, so the infection typically does not resolve spontaneously. If left untreated with antibiotics, gonococcal infection will persist.

Gonococcal urethritis generally refers to gonorrheal urethritis, which usually cannot resolve spontaneously and requires active treatment and management.

Gonococcus has a strong capacity for survival and reproduction. Once it enters the human body, gonococcus rapidly multiplies on the urethral mucosa and releases large amounts of toxins, causing damage to the urethral mucosa and triggering an inflammatory response. It is difficult for the body's immune system alone to completely eliminate the infection, so spontaneous resolution is rare. Without targeted antibiotic treatment, gonococcal infection will persist.

In such cases, the infection may not only lead to worsening symptoms but also cause a series of complications, such as epididymitis, prostatitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and salpingitis. Patients should strictly follow medical advice and complete the entire course of treatment to prevent the development of drug resistance. Commonly used medications include penicillin-class drugs, cephalosporin-class drugs, and spectinomycin. Since gonorrheal urethritis is primarily transmitted through sexual contact, the patient's spouse or sexual partner should also receive treatment simultaneously to prevent reinfection.

If you suffer from gonorrheal urethritis, it is recommended to seek timely medical consultation and treatment at a hospital. During treatment, it is advisable to maintain good perineal hygiene and wear loose, breathable underwear.
