Introduction
The common formulations of oseltamivir include capsules and granules. Children taking oseltamivir may experience gastrointestinal discomfort, psychiatric abnormalities, worsening cough, allergic reactions, eye pain, and other side effects. After taking oseltamivir, the medication can irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa, with gastrointestinal reactions being a common side effect, potentially causing symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.

Oseltamivir is commonly available in capsule and granule formulations. Possible side effects in children include gastrointestinal discomfort, psychiatric disturbances, worsening cough, allergic reactions, and eye pain.

1. Gastrointestinal Discomfort

After taking oseltamivir, children may experience gastrointestinal side effects due to irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa. Common symptoms include nausea and vomiting, and some children may also develop abdominal pain or diarrhea.

2. Psychiatric Disturbances

Some children may experience psychiatric side effects such as hallucinations or delirium. They may appear overly excited, agitated, restless, or suffer from insomnia.

3. Worsening Cough

Oseltamivir may irritate the respiratory tract and cause respiratory-related side effects. Children may experience increased coughing or wheezing. These symptoms may be more pronounced in children with pre-existing respiratory conditions.

4. Allergic Reactions

Some children may be allergic to oseltamivir, leading to skin-related side effects such as rash or itching. The rash can vary in appearance, including erythema or papules.

5. Eye Pain

In rare cases, children may experience ocular side effects after taking oseltamivir, including eye pain, redness, swelling, or blurred vision.

Parents are advised to administer medication to children only under the guidance of a physician and should not give medications arbitrarily. Children should maintain a light diet, avoid spicy or irritating foods, and ensure adequate rest.
