Introduction
First Aid for Drowning: Once the victim has been rescued from the water, immediately assess whether they are breathing and have a pulse. - If a pulse is present but breathing is rapid or labored, perform the Heimlich maneuver (abdominal thrusts) immediately to expel water from the mouth. - If both breathing and pulse have ceased, initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). After performing CPR, call 120 to seek assistance from professional medical personnel.

Regarding resuscitation for drowning, after rescuing the patient from the water, the first step is to assess whether they are breathing and have a pulse.

If the patient has a pulse but is breathing rapidly and shallowly, the Heimlich maneuver should be performed immediately—applying upward abdominal thrusts to expel water from the mouth and oral cavity.

This can rapidly restore the patient’s breathing.

If both breathing and pulse have ceased, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) must be initiated immediately.

After initiating CPR, promptly call 120 to seek assistance from professional medical personnel.
