Introduction
Under normal circumstances, the term "sugar tolerance" refers to the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). On the night before the OGTT, individuals may drink small amounts of water but should avoid consuming any high-sugar beverages. Specifically, before undergoing the oral glucose tolerance test, subjects may drink small amounts of water, preferably plain boiled water. Excessive water intake is not recommended, and consumption of any sugary drinks, fruit juices, or other high-sugar beverages is prohibited.

Generally, the term "sugar tolerance" refers to the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). On the night before the OGTT, individuals may drink small amounts of water but should avoid consuming any high-sugar beverages. The details are as follows:

The oral glucose tolerance test is performed to evaluate glucose metabolism, primarily to assess pancreatic β-cell function and the body's ability to regulate blood glucose levels. It is an important diagnostic criterion for diabetes. On the night before undergoing the OGTT, the examinee may drink a small amount of water, preferably plain boiled water. Excessive water intake is not recommended, and consumption of any sugary drinks, fruit juices, or other high-sugar beverages is prohibited. Drinking a small amount of plain water generally does not significantly affect the results of the OGTT.

Prior to the OGTT, the examinee must not consume any food. From the evening meal until the test the next morning, fasting for 8-14 hours is required to ensure a fasting state during the test. Typically, after 8 PM the previous night, no food or snacks, as well as no beverages, should be consumed.

The examinee should ensure adequate rest, avoid strenuous physical activity, late nights, and fatigue, and maintain sufficient sleep. Good sleep helps stabilize blood glucose levels and reduces the impact of stress factors on the test results.
