Introduction
In general, it is not recommended to drink coffee or tea before undergoing a glucose tolerance test. Both coffee and tea contain caffeine and other bioactive components that may affect glucose metabolism and regulation. During a glucose tolerance test, it is important to accurately assess an individual's ability to tolerate glucose. Consumption of coffee or tea may interfere with this evaluation, leading to inaccurate test results.

Generally, it is not recommended to drink coffee or tea before undergoing a glucose tolerance test. The reasons are as follows:

Coffee and tea both contain certain amounts of caffeine and other bioactive components, which may affect glucose metabolism and regulation. During a glucose tolerance test, it is important to accurately assess an individual's ability to tolerate glucose. Consumption of coffee or tea might interfere with this evaluation and lead to inaccurate test results.

For three days prior to the glucose tolerance test, individuals should maintain a normal carbohydrate intake. Insufficient carbohydrate intake may reduce glucose tolerance and lead to a false-positive result. Before the test, patients must fast for a certain period, usually between 8 to 16 hours. During this time, apart from being allowed to drink water in moderation, intake of other foods and beverages, including coffee and tea, should be avoided.

Before undergoing the glucose tolerance test, individuals should avoid strenuous physical activity, as it may cause physical fatigue and stress responses that could affect the test results. Additionally, individuals should try to relax and avoid emotions such as tension and anxiety, which may also interfere with the test outcomes.
