Introduction
Beef bone refers to the skeletal tissue of cattle (Bos taurus) or water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis). Its primary components include organic substances—such as proteins—and inorganic substances—mainly calcium and phosphorus. Calcium and phosphorus themselves support bone growth and development, or may help alleviate low back and lumbar pain. However, consuming bones does not effectively replenish bone mass, because bone calcium is poorly soluble in water. Bone broth contains very little calcium and thus provides virtually no calcium supplementation benefit.

Ox bone refers to the skeletal tissue of cattle (either yellow cattle or water buffalo) belonging to the Bovidae family. Its primary components include organic substances such as proteins and inorganic substances—mainly calcium and phosphorus. Calcium and phosphorus themselves can promote bone growth and development or alleviate symptoms such as lower back and lumbar pain.

However, consuming bones does not effectively replenish bone mass, because calcium in bone is poorly water-soluble. Bone broth contains very little calcium and thus offers negligible calcium supplementation benefits. Conversely, bone marrow is rich in fat, which leaches into the broth during prolonged cooking; consequently, drinking such broth increases dietary fat intake, thereby raising the risk of obesity and various chronic diseases.
