Can a 10-year-old child drink sweet rice wine?
Ten-year-old children generally should not drink sweet rice wine.
A 10-year-old child's body is in a stage of growth and development, with various organs not yet fully matured. Particularly, the liver's ability to metabolize alcohol is still weak. Although sweet rice wine has relatively low alcohol content, it still contains alcohol. When consumed by children, it may damage organs such as the liver and stomach, affecting the child's normal growth and development.
A child's nervous system is also developing, and alcohol may adversely affect it, leading to problems such as inattention and decreased memory, and may even impact intellectual development. Additionally, sweet rice wine contains high levels of sugar; excessive consumption may cause elevated blood sugar levels in children, potentially triggering health issues like diabetes.
Parents should strictly supervise their children's diet, avoiding any exposure to alcoholic beverages, including sweet rice wine. At the same time, they should educate children to develop good eating habits, consume more vegetables and fruits, maintain balanced nutrition, and promote healthy physical growth.
