Introduction
A pilonidal cyst refers to a sebaceous cyst. Under normal circumstances, geranium is not directly indicated for the treatment of sebaceous cysts. Geranium has various effects, including clearing heat and detoxifying, promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, and relieving phlegm and cough. However, it does not directly target the treatment of sebaceous cysts. Applying geranium directly, either externally or internally, may lead to infection of the sebaceous cyst and potentially delay proper treatment.

A粉瘤 refers to a sebaceous cyst. Under normal circumstances, geranium (老鹳草) cannot be directly used to treat sebaceous cysts. Detailed explanation is as follows:

Sebaceous cysts are retention cysts formed by blockage of sebaceous gland ducts. Treatments for sebaceous cysts, such as surgical excision, are direct and effective, capable of completely removing the cyst and preventing recurrence. Geranium has various effects, including clearing heat and detoxifying, promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, and relieving phlegm and cough. However, it does not directly target the treatment of sebaceous cysts and may even delay the condition.

Moreover, whether applied externally or taken orally, using geranium directly may lead to infection of the sebaceous cyst. When applying geranium externally, if the medication is unclean or improperly used, it may contaminate the skin surface of the cyst. If there is a minor skin breakage, it might increase the chance of bacterial invasion, inducing cyst infection and causing adverse consequences such as increased redness, swelling, and pain. Therefore, it is not recommended to use geranium blindly on sebaceous cysts without medical guidance.

Before using any traditional Chinese medicine, one should consult a TCM physician or pharmacist to avoid self-medicating blindly, thus ensuring its effectiveness and safety.
