Introduction
Peas are the seeds of herbaceous plants in the legume family (Fabaceae), containing plant protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, folate, iron, potassium, and other nutrients. They help regulate blood sugar levels. Corn (maize) consists of the grains of herbaceous plants in the grass family (Poaceae), containing dietary fiber, B-complex vitamins, vitamin E, magnesium, phosphorus, and other nutrients. It helps protect vision and delay macular degeneration. These two foods can generally be consumed together.

Under normal circumstances, peas and corn can be eaten together, but excessive consumption should be avoided. Details are as follows:

Peas are rich in protein, vitamin C, and dietary fiber, while corn contains abundant carbohydrates, B vitamins, and minerals. From a nutritional standpoint, peas and corn typically do not undergo harmful chemical reactions when consumed together. Therefore, eating them together does not cause adverse effects and can actually aid digestion and enhance immunity. Additionally, vitamin C in peas can promote iron absorption from corn, and lutein and flavonoids can work synergistically as antioxidants. The dietary fiber in corn can also help balance the purine metabolism burden caused by peas.

Although peas and corn can be eaten together, excessive consumption should be avoided. Peas contain protein and corn contains starch; excessive intake may increase metabolic and digestive burdens. Moreover, if an individual is allergic to either ingredient, allergic reactions such as skin itching or difficulty breathing may occur. In such cases, consuming peas and corn is not recommended.

In daily diets, maintaining a balanced dietary structure, consuming various foods in moderation, and avoiding excessive intake of any single food are beneficial to maintaining good health.
