Introduction
Stye usually refers to hordeolum. In general, chalazion and hordeolum are not the same eye condition. Although both occur on the eyelid, they are two distinct diseases and should not be considered equivalent. Daily care should emphasize eye hygiene, avoid rubbing the eyes with hands, and reduce the risk of bacterial infection. It is also important to ensure adequate eye rest, avoid prolonged eye use that leads to fatigue, and thereby lower the likelihood of developing these conditions.

Stye usually refers to hordeolum. In general, chalazion and hordeolum are not the same eye condition. Although both occur on the eyelid, they are two distinct diseases and should not be considered equivalent. The specific analysis is as follows:

Chalazion and hordeolum are two different eye conditions with clear differences in causes and symptoms. A chalazion results from blockage of the meibomian gland duct, leading to accumulation of secretions and forming a chronic, sterile inflammation. It is typically painless, presenting as a round, soft, slow-growing nodule in the eyelid. In contrast, a hordeolum is caused by a bacterial infection (commonly Staphylococcus), resulting in an acute suppurative inflammation. Symptoms include redness, swelling, and pain in the eyelid, with a tender, palpable nodule. The condition progresses rapidly and may even rupture with pus formation in severe cases. Given their distinct mechanisms and clinical presentations, treatment must be tailored according to the specific diagnosis.

Daily care should emphasize eye hygiene—avoid rubbing the eyes to reduce the risk of bacterial infection. Ensure adequate eye rest and avoid prolonged eye strain to lower the likelihood of developing these conditions. Diet-wise, minimize spicy and irritating foods and consume more fresh fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins. Seek medical attention promptly if eye discomfort occurs; do not attempt to squeeze any nodules, as this could spread the infection. Additionally, maintain cleanliness of the skin around the eyes to support local hygiene and promote recovery of eye health.
