Introduction
As immunostimulatory agents, gamma globulin is primarily used—particularly for the prevention of viral infections such as hepatitis and measles. Other immunomodulatory drugs include thymosin injections to enhance systemic immunity, as well as human serum albumin administration—either orally or via injection—to support immune function. Additionally, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy may be employed to boost immunity.

In daily life, immunity can be enhanced through diet and exercise, as well as through the use of certain medications. So, what medications are available to boost immunity?

What Medications Enhance Immunity?

The first category of immunostimulatory drugs comprises gamma globulins (immunoglobulins). Gamma globulin is primarily used for the prevention of viral infections such as hepatitis and measles.

In patients with congenital gamma globulin deficiency, combined treatment with gamma globulin and antibiotics can improve therapeutic efficacy against severe bacterial and viral infections. The second class of immunostimulatory agents is transfer factor. Transfer factor is a low-molecular-weight substance composed of polynucleotides and polypeptides, extracted from normal human white blood cells. It functions as a cellular immune enhancer, possessing both antigen-specific and non-specific cellular immune activity, and promotes interferon release. Transfer factor exhibits broad immunomodulatory activity: on one hand, it induces activation of immune cells and enhances the body’s non-specific immunity; on the other hand, it can confer antigen-specific immunity to other individuals or animals, thereby eliciting specific immune responses.

Other immunostimulatory approaches include intramuscular or subcutaneous injection of thymosin to enhance immune function, as well as oral or intravenous administration of albumin. Additionally, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy may be used to alleviate symptoms associated with general physical debility. However, maintaining adequate nutritional status remains essential in daily life. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you good health and a joyful life!
