Elevated lipoprotein(a) indicates dyslipidemia and increases the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases—such as stroke and coronary artery disease. It is recommended that you consult an internist at a hospital and undergo further evaluations, including electrocardiography (ECG), blood pressure measurement, and cranial computed tomography (CT). These tests will help assess whether there are any cardiovascular or cerebrovascular abnormalities. Lipid-lowering medications may be prescribed. Additionally, maintain a light, low-fat diet—avoid greasy and fried foods—and consume more vegetables and fruits. Engage in moderate physical activity, and abstain from smoking and alcohol consumption.
