The rotavirus vaccine is an oral vaccine. Serious side effects are generally not observed after vaccination. In rare cases, some children may experience mild diarrhea and vomiting, which may last for 2–3 days. Among children under 3 years of age receiving the rotavirus vaccine, a few may develop fever and loss of appetite within 5 days after the first dose. After the second dose, only mild fever may occur. These symptoms rarely occur following the third dose.
