Is it painful to have an IUD removed?
Disease description:
I’ve had an intrauterine device (IUD) in place for ten years, and it has now reached its expiration date, so I need to go to the hospital to have it removed. However, I’m quite anxious about the procedure and would like to ask: Is IUD removal painful?
During IUD removal, mild pain may occur, which most patients can tolerate. However, for patients who are particularly sensitive to pain, a painless removal option is available. Typically, the procedure takes approximately 5–10 minutes. If the IUD is embedded or fractured, the procedure time may be prolonged.
