How is epididymitis best treated?
Disease description:
I’ve been experiencing a sensation of swelling in my scrotum for the past two days, along with generalized fever and significant discomfort. My doctor diagnosed it as epididymitis. What is the best treatment for epididymitis?
Epididymitis can be treated with antibiotics—such as levofloxacin or amoxicillin—under a physician’s guidance. Symptom relief may also be achieved by elevating the scrotum and applying local cold compresses. If epididymitis progresses to testicular abscess, surgical incision and drainage at a hospital may be required. Additionally, patients with epididymitis should rest in bed and avoid strenuous physical activity.
