How is epididymitis treated?
Disease description:
Recently, I have experienced redness, swelling, and pain in my testicles. After researching online, I found that this may be caused by epididymitis. How is epididymitis treated?
Epididymitis is typically treated with antibiotics, such as cefuroxime axetil tablets, cefixime, or ceftriaxone sodium. Patients should take the prescribed medication regularly, usually for approximately 2–3 weeks, which generally leads to full recovery. However, if treatment is delayed and the condition worsens—particularly if suppuration develops—surgical intervention, including drainage and/or epididymectomy, may be required.
