Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS) is a naturally occurring zoonotic disease caused by hantaviruses, also known as epidemic hemorrhagic fever. In China, the primary reservoirs are domestic and wild rodents; other animals—such as cats, pigs, and dogs—may carry the virus during early infection but are not major reservoirs or sources of transmission. Transmission can occur via the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, or aerosolized particles. Clinical manifestations include fever, hemorrhage, and shock.
