Is Ebola virus a hemorrhagic fever?
Disease description:
I’ve had vomiting and diarrhea for several days. After visiting the hospital, I was diagnosed with Ebola virus infection. Is Ebola virus infection a type of hemorrhagic fever?
Ebola virus causes hemorrhagic fever, a severe acute infectious disease known as Ebola virus disease (EVD), which is highly contagious. EVD primarily affects adults and presents clinically with symptoms including fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and hemorrhage. Currently, there is no specific antiviral treatment available; management is mainly supportive and symptomatic. Therapeutic interventions may include antiviral agents, antibiotics, hemostatic and anticoagulant therapy, anti-inflammatory treatment, and hepatoprotective measures, as clinically indicated.
