Metronidazole gel is effective in the treatment of rosacea. Rosacea is primarily caused by excessive sebaceous gland secretion. Metronidazole gel exerts anti-inflammatory effects and is therefore indicated for rosacea treatment. It inhibits bacterial metabolism, leading to bacterial death, and possesses broad-spectrum activity against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. Additionally, it can induce nasal mucosal vasoconstriction. Clinically, metronidazole gel demonstrates favorable efficacy in treating rosacea.
