Are neck lymph nodes serious?
Disease description:
I’ve developed a noticeable lump on my neck that’s somewhat large and movable upon palpation. After visiting the hospital for evaluation, I was diagnosed with a lymph node nodule. I’d like to know: Is a lymph node nodule in the neck serious?
Most neck lymph nodes are benign and not necessarily serious. Benign lymph node hyperplasia can often be monitored without specific treatment. There is no need for excessive worry or frequent palpation. In cases of acute lymphadenitis, oral antibiotics such as amoxicillin or cefadroxil may be prescribed by a physician to help alleviate symptoms. If malignancy is suspected, a biopsy is required for diagnosis, and treatment may include bone marrow aspiration or other interventions, as clinically indicated.
