Disease description:

Today, while looking in the mirror, I noticed a lump on my neck. It felt slightly painful when pressed. After visiting the hospital, the doctor diagnosed it as cervical lymphadenopathy. How should it be treated?

Treatment of cervical lymphadenopathy must be tailored to the individual patient’s specific condition. If the lymph node enlargement is due to inflammatory lymphadenitis secondary to a superficial cervical abscess, intravenous administration of antibiotics—such as cefoperazone/sulbactam—under physician guidance, combined with topical application of Ruyijinhuan Ointment, may be appropriate. However, if the lymphadenopathy results from cervical lymph node involvement by malignancies such as thyroid cancer, prompt referral to a hospital for surgical intervention—including cervical lymph node dissection—along with adjuvant radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy, is required.
