Disease description:

After being diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus, I've noticed some abnormalities in my mental state—sometimes overly excited and other times extremely down. I would like to inquire about psychosis caused by systemic lupus erythematosus.

Neuropsychiatric manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus include central nervous system involvement, altered consciousness, dementia-like symptoms, and impaired cognitive function. The clinical presentation of lupus encephalopathy is highly variable and mainly comprises neurological and psychiatric symptoms. Neurological involvement is most commonly seen in seizures, primarily manifesting as mental disturbances such as auditory hallucinations, delusions, neck stiffness, fear, and a sense of being controlled. Organic brain syndrome presents with symptoms including difficulty concentrating, behavioral abnormalities, mild mania, depression, and the like.
