Treatment for epididymitis involves the use of antipyretic and analgesic medications. If symptoms are severe, local block therapy may be performed to relieve pain and reduce swelling. When inflammatory masses in the epididymis enlarge, the scrotal skin becomes red and shows fluctuation, indicating abscess formation, which requires incision and drainage. Antibiotics should be selected based on bacterial sensitivity to prevent the condition from progressing to chronic inflammation. Chronic epididymitis can also be treated by local injection of berberine or neomycin ions into the epididymis.
