Perianal abscesses can generally be treated to reduce swelling through the use of anti-inflammatory medications, surgery, and other methods. For superficial abscesses, oral or intravenous anti-inflammatory therapy can achieve healing. Surgery may involve incision and drainage, along with anti-inflammatory treatment and medication adjustments. Since perianal abscess is a purulent infection around the anus and rectum, antibiotics are primarily used to control the local infection. Once the infection is controlled, localized inflammatory edema will gradually subside.
