Patients with high blood sugar can take Liuwei Dihuang Pills, but since this is a traditional Chinese medicine formulation, self-medication is not recommended. It should only be taken after proper diagnosis and differentiation by a qualified practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Liuwei Dihuang Pills are specifically indicated for individuals with kidney yin deficiency, who commonly experience symptoms such as heat in the palms, soles, and chest, night sweats, and soreness or weakness in the lower back and knees. Some patients may also present with a red tongue with little coating or a fine-rapid pulse. Currently, Liuwei Dihuang Pills are available in two forms: water pills and honeyed pills. Diabetic patients are advised to choose the water pill form to minimize interference with blood glucose monitoring results.
