How to distinguish menstruation from bleeding
Disease description:
Today I noticed vaginal bleeding during my menstrual leave and thought it was normal menstruation. However, after going to the hospital for a checkup, the doctor said it was bleeding related to pregnancy. I'm a bit confused—how can one differentiate between menstrual bleeding and other types of bleeding?
Menstruation and bleeding can be differentiated based on timing and blood characteristics. If a woman has regular menstrual cycles and experiences bleeding during her expected period, it is typically menstruation. Bleeding that occurs outside the menstrual period is considered vaginal bleeding. Normally, menstrual blood contains components such as endometrial tissue fragments and appears as dark red, non-clotting blood. In contrast, vaginal bleeding usually lacks endometrial components and the blood tends to appear bright red or brown.
